Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman will direct her first feature film based on "A Tale of Love and Darkness," a memoir by Israeli novelist Amos Oz. The Israeli-American actress, who won a best actress Oscar in 2011 for her role in ballet drama "Black Swan," will also play Oz's mother, who committed suicide when he was 12. The first wave of films for the Fantastic Fest lineup has been announced. Keanu Reeves' directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi, will have its U.S. premiere at the Austin, Texas, festival, which runs Sept. 19-26 at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline. At the Autodesk Users Group event , Oscar-winning producer Jon Landau offered a behind-the-scenes look at some of the early tests toward making James Cameron?s Avatar sequels. Landau noted that the partners are working to advance virtual production tools and techniques, but added that what he was showing was work in progress as they are "still not there."
